God is Spanish!

By Cathy Ingram, Kennesaw State University

So this past Sunday Dara and I taught the children about Adan and Eva (Adam and Eve) and how they made a mistake by disobeying God and eating the forbidden fruit. We told the kids that we should listen to God and God says to obey our parents and when we listen to our parents that pleases God. Might I remind you this is all in Spanish, NOT English.

As I sing Spanish worship songs at my new church home, teach the children in Spanish and even try to pray in Spanish, I am so humbled by the fact that God is Spanish. God is English as well. God knows every language. He isn’t bound by languages because He is the creator of all languages. He knows them all. That just baffles my mind, because I’m over here in Spain trying to learn 2 languages and I am riding that struggle bus like no other, where as God can hear, understand and know all of the languages in the world. He is full of knowledge and power! Nothing can stop Him. Also, He is the God of this city. Sevilla, Spain. He is their God and Jesus is their Savior, even if some people may not recognize it. He is the King of these people. He is the King of all kings.

“The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name.”  Zechariah 14:9

We held an English party at the church for the kids at a local high school. The point of the party was to get the kids familiar with the church, form some relationships, share the gospel through a testimony of one of girls at the church and invite the kids to a Bible discussion group on Tuesdays. I talked with some girls and we played Just Dance together. The funniest thing to watch is when the boys try to play. They are so stiff and have no idea what is going on. I would yell BAILA (dance in Spanish for those non-Spanish speakers) and we ended up with a mini little flash mob in the back while 2 other people would dance up front. It was so much fun! There was also basketball, foosball, and board games. I’m sure all the kids had a blast! At least the dancing group had a blast fo sho!
